More Description

A modern day interpretation of The Parable of The Ten Virgins as found in Matthew, Chapter 25:1-13. It portrays distractions that can prevent us from filling our lamps with the oil of conversion: Judging, Noise, Extreme, Materialism, and Pride. It also portrays values young women are taught through the Gospel of Jesus Christ that help us carefully fill our lamps drop by drop: Divine Nature, Individual Worth and Knowledge, Good works, Choice and Accountability, Integrity, Faith & Virtue.

As daughters of Heavenly Father we are meant to shine. We are not ordinary. We are brilliant, beautiful and powerful. May this artwork be a reminder of the distractions and values of our time and remind us that today is the day to prepare.

“Wherefore, be faithful, praying always, having your lamps trimmed and burning, and oil with you, that you may be ready at the coming of the Bridegroom.” (D&C 33:17) Choose You This Day.

Divine Nature

Divine Nature, Individual Worth and Knowledge works hard to develop her God-given gifts.
She knows who she is.  She studies the scriptures.  She knows the attributes of Christ and is trying to be like Him.  As her individual faith grows through obedience, her gifts also grow through their exercise and use.  She relies on the Lord and He enlarges her talents and blesses the lives of those around her.
3 Nephi 27:27  “...therefore, what manner of men ought ye to be?
Verily I say unto you, even as I am.”

The girls on the right, the wise, were patterned after the Young Women values.

The first is Divine Nature, Individual Worth, and Knowledge. She studies and works hard for the things that she has received (see Moroni 10:4-5). Like Alma, who fasted and prayed for many days, she has a testimony of who she is and knows for herself of the divinity of her Savior (see Alma 5:46). She cultivates her talents and loves to share them with others. She not only works on physical talents and gifts, but also spiritual, which the scriptures tell us, are numberless (see Moroni 10:8-18). She strives to have the Holy Ghost as her constant companion. If we accept the gift of the Holy Ghost, we will not be deceived. “And at that day, when I shall come in my glory, shall the parable be fulfilled which I spake concerning the ten virgins.
For they that are wise and have received the truth, and have taken the Holy Spirit for their guide, and have not been deceived—verily I say unto you, they shall not be hewn down and cast into the fire, but shall abide the day”(D&C 45: 56-57).

She understands the importance and takes advantage of the schooling she receives. She is grateful to those who have sacrificed so that she can learn and grow. She regularly shows her appreciation to others and her Heavenly Father. She realizes that all gifts come from Him.

she knows who she is a daughter of God. Think of the YW theme. Every week you repeat this. Can you imagine if you really understood what this means. What if you believed it, what if we caught the vision? Would we be different?

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

In the Pearl of Great Price Moses chpt 1 the Savior is talking with Moses. He took him on a world tour, of creations all of the creations, (on this world) and was told World without numbers I have created. As he is doing this 3 times He tells him, you are my son. ( You are in the similitude of My only Begotten) You are a son of God! This gave him great power. Look at what he was able to do even though he felt as if he were "slow of speech" He was able to save the people of Israel Exodus 19:4)
