More Description

A modern day interpretation of The Parable of The Ten Virgins as found in Matthew, Chapter 25:1-13. It portrays distractions that can prevent us from filling our lamps with the oil of conversion: Judging, Noise, Extreme, Materialism, and Pride. It also portrays values young women are taught through the Gospel of Jesus Christ that help us carefully fill our lamps drop by drop: Divine Nature, Individual Worth and Knowledge, Good works, Choice and Accountability, Integrity, Faith & Virtue.

As daughters of Heavenly Father we are meant to shine. We are not ordinary. We are brilliant, beautiful and powerful. May this artwork be a reminder of the distractions and values of our time and remind us that today is the day to prepare.

“Wherefore, be faithful, praying always, having your lamps trimmed and burning, and oil with you, that you may be ready at the coming of the Bridegroom.” (D&C 33:17) Choose You This Day.

Integrity

Integrity believes in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
She is confident in sharing her beliefs with others.  She has great hope for the future.  As a daughter of God, she stands as a witness of God at all times and in all places.

D&C 115:5  “Arise and shine forth, that thy light may be a standard for the nations.”
Integrity wears the color purple. Purple represents royalty and is known to inspire high ideals. Just as the 2000 stripling warriors were not afraid to die for what they believed, she is not afraid to live for what she believes. President Benson taught that those who love the Savior “not only would.... die for Him, but more importantly they want to live for Him” (Conference Report, Oct. 1985). Her hair is straight which represents walking the strait and narrow path. Integrity is being a witness of God at all times and in all places. (See Mosiah 18:9.)

In her hand she holds a microphone. This symbolizes the courage to stand up for the things that she knows are right, whether that means walking out of a movie or away from a party. It doesn’t matter what others may say or think. Like the example of President Spencer W. Kimball, she would reply with kindness, love, and civility toward those things that she honors that others might defile. Mormon calls this a peaceable follower (see Moroni 7:3). President Kimball spoke out on profanity, “In the hospital one day I was wheeled out of the operating room by an attendant who stumbled, and there issued from his angry lips vicious cursing with a combination of the names of the Savior. Even half-conscious, I recoiled and implored: ‘Please! Please! That is my Lord whose names you revile’”
Through her faith in Jesus Christ, she has overcome her fear. She has the courage to stand for truth and righteousness because of her love and knowledge of her Savior.
